Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has unveiled the much-awaited trailer of his upcoming directorial venture, L2: Empuraan. A sequel to the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, the film sees superstar Mohanlal reprising his role as Stephen Nedumpally, aka Khureshi Ab’raam, while Prithviraj himself returns as the no-nonsense Zayed Masood.
The trailer opens with a voice-over from PK Ramdas (Sachin Khedekar), declaring that his successors will not be his children but those who truly follow him. It then introduces Tovino Thomas as Jathin Ramdas, the son of PK Ramdas, who returns to India from the USA following his father’s death. He is seen leading the party, addressing a massive political rally. Manju Warrier’s Priyadarshini Ramdas also appears, emphasizing that human lives matter more than blood relations.
Adding intrigue, Aamir Khan’s sister Nikhat Khan plays a shrewd politician, calling politics a business. Almost a minute into the trailer, Mohanlal’s Khureshi makes a powerful entry. The visuals take viewers across multiple international locations—Yemen, France, Turkey, and London—before returning to the heart of Kerala, where Khureshi is tasked with saving ‘God’s Own Country.’
The trailer leaves audiences with a lingering question—’Who are you?’ Indrajith Sukumaran’s Govardhan asks Mohanlal, to which he responds with a single word: “Lucifer.”
Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film boasts an ensemble cast, including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles. Written by Murali Gopy, L2: Empuraan is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions.
L2: Empuraan will release in theatres on March 27.
