Days after winning Dadasaheb Phalke honour, Mohanlal begins Drishyam 3: ‘Bringing Georgekutty’s world alive again’

Mohanlal shares pictures from Drishyam 3 Pooja ceremony confirming shoot kicks off today

Drishyam 3, the most-awaited third installment of the blockbuster Drishyam franchise, had its pooja function held today at Kochi. The long-in-gestation project will see Mohanlal reprising his role from the original two films. The pooja ceremony was attended by Mohanlal, producer Anthony Perumbavoor, and director Jeethu Joseph, with the rest of the crew in attendance. In a media interaction, during the Pooja, Mohanlal added, “We wish all films to be blockbuster successes during the Pooja ceremony. I hope the same happens to this film, too. Let’s pray that the audience who loved parts 1 and 2 will like this third part too.” The shooting of the film kicks off today.

Mohanlal was honored with Dadsaheb Phalke award on Saturday. It is the nation’s highest honour in the field of cinema and arts.

Mohanlal also added a cheeky response to being asked what Georgekutty, his character, would be up to this time in the third film and plot details. “Georgekutty for sure will get into some trouble. The director has told me strictly not to share the story. So I am not at liberty to say more now,” said Mohanlal. Drishyam franchise followed the trials and tribulations of an ordinary family, whose one mistake from the past catches up with them in the most unexpected of ways.

The third part will also feature Meena, Ansibha and Esther Anil retaining their original roles. There have been no updates on the new additions to the cast. Drishyam 3 will be shot in parts of Thodupuzha, Kerala, over the next two months, and Jeethu Joseph will enter the production of the Telugu remake, featuring Venkatesh, after the Malayalam version wraps filming. The Hindi version featuring Ajay Devgn will be entering production after the release of the Malayalam version. Satheesh Kurup handles the cinematography, while Anil Johnson, the regular composer
