Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Prediction Day 1: After nearly three years, actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty is all set to return with the highly anticipated Kantara Chapter 1. Technically a prequel to the 2022 surprise blockbuster Kantara, the film is slated for release on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The original Kantara defied expectations to become a national phenomenon, earning Rs 400 crore at the box office against a modest budget of just Rs 15 crore. With that legacy in mind, all eyes are now on Kantara Chapter 1, and early indicators suggest the film is off to a decent start in terms of advance ticket sales.
According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, as of Wednesday morning, the film’s advance booking gross stands at Rs 10.61 crore. Including blocked seats, the total goes up to Rs 19.8 crore. The film is being screened across 11,627 shows nationwide and has sold 3,72,784 tickets so far. Unsurprisingly, a large share of the bookings comes from the Kannada-speaking region, where 1,98,162 tickets have been sold across 1,776 shows. However, the Hindi belt is not far behind. The film has the highest number of shows in Hindi, 6,323, with 50,800 tickets sold.
Tamil and Telugu audiences have also responded well, purchasing 39,270 and 33,492 tickets respectively. Interestingly, the Malayalam version is performing particularly strongly, with 50,868 tickets sold across just 1,236 shows. While the advance booking, which opened on Sunday, has been tracking well, it still falls short compared to some of the highest-grossing Kannada or pan-Indian releases. For instance, KGF Chapter 2 had recorded Kannada-only advance sales worth Rs 17.95 crore by its opening day.

Even Hindi-language blockbuster Chhaava, the year’s top-grossing film so far, had logged Rs 13.79 crore in day-one advance sales. In fact, War 2, which went onto to become a massive disaster, had also managed Rs 20.57 crore (excluding blocked seats) in the same period. That said, Kantara Chapter 1 has outpaced the year’s surprise hit Saiyaara, which featured newcomers and still recorded Rs 9.39 crore in pre-release ticket sales. With nearly 24 hours to go before the film officially hits theatres, analysts expect these numbers to grow further. As more single-screen cinemas open advance bookings later in the day, and buzz continues to build, the momentum could carry Kantara Chapter 1 to a strong opening.
Recently, a grand pre-release event for the film was held in Hyderabad. Among the high-profile attendees were actor Jr NTR and producer Y. Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers. However, the event drew some criticism after remarks made by Ravi Shankar about actress Rukmini Vasanth were perceived as dismissive. Many felt he spoke down about her in an apparent attempt to flatter Jr NTR, sparking backlash from fans and general audiences alike.
