Richard Gere hugs PM Narendra Modi during Yoga Day event at UN headquarters: ‘It’s a very nice feeling here today’

Hollywood actor Richard Gere participated in the 9th International Yoga Day celebrations at United Nations Headquarters in New York led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hollywood actor Richard Gere was among the many attendees at Prime Minister Narendra Modi led 9th International Yoga Day celebrations at United Nations Headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

Gere spoke to ANI before the event and said, “He (PM Modi) is a product of Indian culture and comes from a vast place as Indian culture does. This sense of universal brotherhood and sisterhood is the message we want to hear again and again.” In videos and photos shared from the event, Gere can be seen following Modi’s lead as he practices some asanas.


There were photos of Richard Gere and PM Mod hugging each other at the event as well.

As per PTI, the event created a Guinness World Record for participation of people of most nationalities in a yoga session.
