These are exciting times for all Harry Potter fans around the world, as shooting for the new HBO show based on the books has already begun. HBO recently revealed the three actors chosen to play Harry, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. Now, new photos from the sets of the show have found their way online, and fans finally have a clearer idea about the show and its setting. It seems as if the new Harry Potter series will be set in the 1990s, which is when the books were set.
Just a few days ago, a picture of Harry, played by actor Dominic McLaughlin, along with Rubeus Hagrid, played by Nick Frost, was shared on the internet. The two characters could be seen crossing the Borough High Street, or in the context of the story, Diagon Alley.

Nick could be seen rocking the classic Hagrid costume, along with a long beard and slightly dishevelled hair. Ron will be played by Alistair Stout, and new images of scenes being shot at King’s Cross Station gave fans a chance to meet the entire Weasley family. Pictures revealed actors Katherine Parkinson, Gracie Cochran, Tristan and Gabriel Harlan, playing the characters of Molly, Ginny, Fred and George Weasley, respectively. Actor Ruari Spooner has also been cast as Percy, and the show will also include the character of Charlie Weasley, who wasn’t a part of the films.
The movie series happens to be one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. The films famously starred Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione, and Rupert Grint as Ron. They were all cast before they’d even hit teenage. The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is now nearly a quarter-century old. It grossed $974 million worldwide, which, when adjusted for inflation comes to about $1.7 billion (Rs 1490 crore). Naturally this creates an even greater challenge for HBO, who don’t just have to match the legacy of the books but also the films.
The production of the show began just last month, and other cast members include Arabella Stanton as Hermione, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
