Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Box Office Collection Day 1:The signs of the times definitely seem to be pointing away from senseless action films and towards the latest competitor to put its skin in the game of the Indian box office: anime. Haruo Sotozaki’s directorial Demon Slayer Infinity Castle showcased an unprecedented performance on its opening day, earning Rs 13 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
Infinity Castle already showed signs of an incredible start at the box office during its advance booking phase. While some projections suggested that the film would end up surpassing Rs 15 crore on the very first day, its current performance is not shabby by any standards. The film is certainly doing better than any of the Indian movies currently running in the theatres. It put up better opening day numbers than Baaghi 4 (Rs 12 cr), Param Sundari (Rs 7.25 cr), and The Bengal Files (Rs 1.75 cr), and even the latest release Mirai (Rs 12 cr). The only film to stay out of Infinity Castle’s reach was The Conjuring Last Rites, which earned Rs 17.5 crore on its opening day.

The film has certainly performed better in India than any of the other anime films that have come out in the recent past. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ran in the theatres for just 4 days and earned Rs 4.85 crore, while Suzume did not even reach the Rs 1 crore mark. Both these films came out in 2022 and 2023, respectively, and did massive business worldwide, but Infinity Castle broke into a market which had been lying dormant for a long time. The boom of anime in the country cannot be traced back to a definite point, but the lockdown made for good business and created and nurtured a fanbase out of nothing. Even James Gunn’s new and improved Superman didn’t put up such numbers on its first day in the Indian market, earning just Rs 7.25 crore.
The overall occupancy rate averaged out at 39.61%, with the morning and afternoon shows bringing in 31.35% and 33.49%, while the evening and night shows performed even better and achieved the rates of 42.6% and 50.98%. The film had just over 1000 shows overall in the country, with Hyderabad and Bengaluru leading the pack with 181 and 173 shows, respectively.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Box Office Worldwide
According to the numbers presented by Box Office Mojo, the Sotozaki film has already made $279 million worldwide (Rs 2383 crore). Its US numbers alone are staggering enough, with Sony predicting $45 million (Rs 397 crore) coming during the weekend. However, these numbers are still on the conservative side, and according to Deadline’s weekend projections, the film could be looking at a purse of $60 million (Rs 529 crore) by the end of this week in the US.
Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the cast of the original Japanese dub includes Natsuki Hanae, Takahiro Sakurai, Saori Hayami, Akira Ashida, and Hiro Shimono.
