‘X Factor’ faces investigation after raunchy finale

After a too hot performance by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera,X factor faces a probe by a media watchdog.

The ‘X Factor’ has landed in trouble with media watchdog Ofcom launching an investigation into the show after receiving thousands of complaints from viewer over the raunchy final performances.

Ofcom and ITV received almost 4,500 complaints from the viewer about the lewd performances by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera during the prime time.

The popular reality show may face a huge fine and ITV could be asked to apologise if they are found to have broken the rules, the Daily Mail reported.

After days of complaints from the viewers the media regulator on Monday confirmed it would look at whether the performances of US pop stars Christina Aguilera and Rihanna were too risque for a family audience.

Ofcom will look at whether the show broke the broadcasting code which seeks to protect children from sexualised content. Ofcom has received 2,750 complaints with an additional 1,500 being registered directly with ITV.

The show final on December 11 saw Rihanna and Aguilera cavorting around the stage in skimpy outfits, performing a series of suggestive dance moves.

Parents slammed the performances as “soft porn” even as the producers defended the scenes saying they were “confident the performances given by our guest artistes … were appropriate for the show”.
