In an interview with Masth Magaa, Shivarajkumar opened up about his struggles with the illness, and how he braved it all for the love of cinema. “Honestly, I was scared when I found out. I was afraid, yes… but what else could have been done except to face it. But the bigger question was if I’d be able to finish the project I was working on?” asked the veteran actor, who was filming for composer-turned-director Arjun Janya’s ambitious film, 45.
The schedule included intense action set-pieces, and Shivarajkumar revealed that he had to start his treatment while working on films and the reality TV show, Dance Karnataka Dance. “In fact, I knew there would be hair loss if I started chemotherapy. So, I was a little worried because I didn’t want to affect the projects on floors,” said the actor, who had no qualms in admitting that he felt tired while shooting because of juggling intense treatment regime, and the rigorous shoot schedules. “It used to be tiring, especially when there were times when I was on the sets just a couple of days after a chemo session.”
Talking about working in 45, the Jailer actor said, “You will be shocked to see the performance in the climax of 45. You would think ‘How did Shivanna do this?’ but I think it was divine intervention that pulled me through all of this.”
Apart from 45, Shivarajkumar is working on multiple films across Kannada and Telugu. “I will resume shooting for my upcoming movies from March 3. First up, it will be for my special role in Ram Charan’s RC 16 in Hyderabad on March 5,” said the actor, who will also be seen in Hemanth M Rao’s next, titled Bhairavana Kone Paata.
Shivarajkumar, who was last seen in Bhairathi Ranagal, is awaiting the release of 45, which is expected to hit the screens on August 15.
