After their money-spinning vampire romance,Summit Entertainment has teamed up with Brad Pitt’s production company to make a film on ‘Dracula’.
The studio has roped in a helmer for the film named ‘Vlad’,which will depict the young days of ‘Dracula’,the most famous figure in vampire lore.
The film will be an action-oriented one produced under Pitt,who has himself starred as a bloodsucker in ‘Interview With a Vampire’ and Dede Gardner’s Plan B Entertainment.
Summit actually had acquired the right to the film a while ago but did not go public with it until they found Anthony Mandler to direct,Ace showbiz reported.
Known as a music video director and photographer,Mandler will have his feature movie directing debut in this one and is looking for a fresh face to play the lead.
The script,which will be written by actor Charlie Hunnam,centers on Dracula as the young prince when he was known as Vlad the Impaler.
Historically,Vlad,the prince of Wallachia,is said to have killed from 40,000 to 100,000 people mostly from the Ottoman Empire,the expansionism of which he re sisted.According to the legends,Dracula got the nickname of ‘Vlad the Impaler’ for his cruel methods of killing,which included impaling,torturing,burning,skinning,roasting,and boiling people.
