Al Pacino to make animation debut

The 'Godfather' star is set to join a voice cast ensemble that includes Steve Carell,Kristen Wiig,Miranda Cosgrove and Russell Brand.

‘Godfather’ star Al Pacino is set to make his animated film debut in ‘Despicable Me 2’ as he has been cast to voice a supervillain.

The 71-year-old actor,who is famous for playing a mobster in several iconic movies,will replace Javier Bardem in the film,reported Ace Showbiz.

Details of Pacino’s role are still kept secret,but his character will be the archenemy of Gru. While Bardem was originally tapped to voice evil genius El Macho,it has been rumored that Pacino could tackle a different villainous character which is adjusted to his personality.

The Michael Corleone of 1972’s iconic mafia movie “The Godfather” is set to join a voice cast ensemble that includes such stars as Steve Carell,Kristen Wiig,Miranda Cosgrove and Russell Brand. The four actors will reprise their roles as Gru,Miss Hattie,Margo and Dr Nefario respectively.

“Despicable Me 2” will bring back director duo Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin,as well as screenwriters Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.
