Spandana (41), the wife of Kannada actor Vijay Raghavendra, passed away in Bangkok late on Sunday night due to a heart attack. Family sources revealed that her death was caused by a combination of low blood pressure and cardiac arrest.
Daughter of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), BK Shivaram, Spandana tied the knot with Vijay in 2007 and the couple has a son, named Shourya. Vijay is a cousin of late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, who also died of a heart attack, age 46.
Spandana’s brother-in-law Srimurali said she died in her sleep on August 6 night. “Spandana slept on the night of August 6, and did not wake up the next morning due to low blood pressure. We will provide more information soon,” he said in an interactin with the media. He also said that Spandana was travelling with family as Vijay had work commitments in India.
Spandana, apart from making a cameo appearance in V Ravichandran’s 2016 movie Apoorva, has also produced a couple of her husband’s films, as reported by India TV. She pursued her education at Stella Maris College in Bengaluru and MES College in Kerala and was also a recognised and admired dancer.
Spandana’s brother, Rakshith Shivaram, holds a prominent position as a state general of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC).
According to India TV, Spandana hailed from Belthangadi in Dakshina Kannada and resided in Bengaluru with her husband and son.

An absolute honour meeting our Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri D.K.Shivakumar Sir. Thank you very much sir,” Vijay noted while sharing a picture of the couple with DKS on Instagram.
On their son’s birthday on June 28, Vijay shared a picture of a happy couple with Shourya and wrote: “Happy Birthday Chinna! Smile… and be the smile of our life!”
The tragic incident happened just 19 days before the couple’s 16th wedding anniversary. On August 27, 2022, during their recent wedding anniversary, Vijay went on social media to post yet another adorable picture of the couple and noted: “We are eternally indebted to you for your love and blessings on our wedding anniversary 🙏🏼😇🙏🏼”
As per Asianet News, Vijaya Raghavendra’s romantic journey commenced in Malleshwaram, where he met Spandana for the first time. Their instant connection led to the actor developing stronger feelings during their second meeting, eventually leading them to fall deeply in love. Vijaya Raghavendra opened up his emotions to Spandana, and she gladly accepted his proposal.
Vijay has worked as an actor and singer in the Kannada film industry for years, winning the 2016 Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor for the movie Shivayogi Sri Puttayyajja. He was the winner of the first season of Bigg Boss Kannada and served as a judge in Dance Karnataka Dance reality show.
