The countdown for the first three significant releases of April has begun ‘Game’,’Faltu’,and ‘Thank You’. After a drought of Hindi film releases in March, cineastes within and outside the film industry are hoping that the wait for the new films is worth it. After all,hi-profile names such as Farhan Akhtar,Ritesh Sidhwani (Game),Vashu Bhagnani (Faltu) and UTV,Anees Bazmee (Thank You) are involved in the making of these films.
Like Abhishek,Akshay Kumar too has had a string of failures to his credit. His last few films have sunk at the box-office,making a big hole in the pockets of their distributors. The year 2011 has also begun on a negative note for Akshay, with ‘Patiala House’ doing lackluster business, although Akshay won all-round praise for his fine performance in the film. Till a few years ago,Akshay was running neck-to-neck with SRK. But ater a spate of flops, his position has slipped considerably. What makes matters worse is that Akshay starrers used to fetch a great start on Fridays, irrespective of the merits of the film, but his past few films (except ‘House Full’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’) have failed to fetch a decent start. ‘Thank You’ is a litmus test. It has to start with a bang. Also,it has to succeed. Only then can Akshay heave a sigh of relief.
Vashu Bhagnani is one dildar producer and when it comes to Jackky, his son,the prolific producer goes that extra mile to ensure that his laadla beta gets nothing but the best. Jackky’s debut film ‘Kal Kisne Dekha’ failed to take off and Jackky and Vashu will be hoping that ‘Faltu’ clicks and establishes Jackky as an actor. The promotions have been top notch, the music has caught on big time… now only Lady Luck needs to bless the Bhagnani scion.
