Actor Bobby Deol says he will credit superstar Salman Khan for bringing him back from hibernation by offering him an opportunity to star in Race 3– which got him back in public memory after years of lying low.

Headlined by Salman, Race 3 was Bobby Deol’s big return to cinemas after forgettable outings in films like Players, Thank You, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and Poster Boys.

Race 3, Bobby said, brought him back from oblivion and people finally started recognizing him. During a session at the Jagran Film Festival, Bobby said it all happened thanks to Salman.

“I will keep thanking Salman all my life. One day he called me and said, ‘Mamu shirt utarega?’ I said I will do anything! That’s how I got Race 3. I had not worked for a lot of years so youngsters didn’t know me that much. But I knew if I appear in a Salman Khan film, crores of people will watch it. That wasn’t the turnaround as such, but because of that people started recognizing me again.”

Upon its release, Race 3 received poor reviews and was an average grosser at the box office. But what the film did for Bobby, the actor said, is offer him more work opportunities. “Because of that I got Housefull 4. I still wasn’t happy as an actor because I wasn’t finding anything challenging. I wanted to prove myself, do characters. Then I got Class of 83, where everything began for me and then happened Aashram,” Bobby said.

In the Netflix outing Class of 83, Bobby played ADGP Vijay Singh while in filmmaker Prakash Jha directed Aashram, the actor played the role of Kashipur Waale Baba Nirala.

On the film front, Bobby will be next seen in Animal, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film is set to release on December 1. While Salman Khan will be seen in Tiger 3, gearing up for a grand Diwali release.
