War 2 box office collection worldwide day 8: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, released amid much hype but is struggling at the box office now.

War 2 Box Office Collection Day 8: Ayan Mukerji's spy action-thriller has crashed at the box office.

War 2 box office collection worldwide day 8: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani starrer War 2 has been in theatres for one week now and within a week’s time, the film’s nett collection has dropped to its opening collection’s 1/10th. The Ayan Mukerji directorial started its box office journey with Rs 52 crore and on its eighth day in the theatres, it made Rs 5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s nett box office collection to Rs 204.25 crore. War 2’s worldwide box office currently stands at Rs 306 crore. Till day 7, the film’s Hindi version earned Rs 146.4 crore while the Telugu version earned Rs 51.3 crore. The Telugu version has been extremely underwhelming at the box office.

On Thursday, the film saw around 9 percent occupancy in its Hindi version. In the Delhi-NCR region, War 2 had around 1,250 shows with almost 9 percent occupancy, and in the Mumbai region, the film had around 770 shows with almost 10 percent occupancy. In the Telugu version, the film saw around 14 percent occupancy with around 300 shows in Hyderabad witnessing approximately 15 percent occupancy, and around 110 shows in Visakhapatnam with around 20 percent occupancy.

War 2 released amid much hype and was supposed to be the next big action film from YRF’s spy-verse but the film has not managed to achieve the kind of success that its predecessors did. Previous spy-verse films, Pathan and Tiger 3, generated more money in the first eight days. Tiger 3, which released on a Sunday, which was also the festival of Diwali, made Rs 229.9 crore in the first eight days. And Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, had made Rs 348.5 crore in the same amount of time. Pathan went on to do over Rs 500 crore at the global box office. Hrithik and Tiger Shroff-starrer War, which released in 2019, made Rs 318.01 crore during its theatrical run, and had managed to make Rs 228.55 crore in the first eight days.

With these numbers, War 2 is now the third highest grosser of the year after Chhaava and Saiyaara this year. The Vicky Kaushal film made a little over Rs 600 crore nett in India, and YRF’s Saiyaara 2, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, made Rs 325.5 crore during its theatrical run.

War 2 will see some competition from Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Param Sundari from next Friday so the film still has another week to make some more money at the box office.
