Vicky Kaushal says he takes the fall in arguments with Katrina Kaif even when it’s not his fault: ‘Drama kisse chahiye yaar’

Vicky Kaushal said that the one 'con' of marrying an actor is that he and Katrina Kaif can go for weeks without having spent enough time with each other, despite living in the same house.

Vicky Kaushal shared some insights about his cross-cultural marriage with Katrina Kaif, and said that because they’re both working actors, they can sometimes go for long stretches without having spent much time with each other. This, he said in a new interview, is the biggest ‘con’ of marrying someone from the film industry.

In a chat with Instant Bollywood, Vicky said that Katrina’s favourite Punjabi word is ‘wadiya (great)’. He said that whenever she’s asked how she’s doing, this is what she says in response. Vicky, the son of veteran action director Sham Kaushal, said that he would get irritated as a child when his parents would insist that he learn Punjabi, but confessed that he is now grateful for it.

Asked to list the pros and cons of marrying an actor, Vicky Kaushal said, “One pro would be that we understand our schedules aren’t nine-to-five, there are no Sundays, there are no weekdays or weekends. So, that understanding is there. The con is that sometimes, you are both shooting for a film and it’s going non-stop, and sometimes a month can pass without us having spent time with each other. Sometimes, I can have day shoots and she can have night shoots, so when I return from work she leaves, and we don’t get any time with each other despite living under the same roof.”

Vicky also said that in moments of conflict between him and Katrina, he’s often the one to apologise first. “It’s me,” he said with a smile. “Sometimes I admit when it’s not my mistake also. Drama kisse chahiye yaar, admit karke life simple ho jaati hai (Who needs the drama, owning up makes life simpler).”

Vicky and Katrina, who met and hit it off at a Bollywood party, dated for the entirety of the pandemic before tying the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in Rajasthan in December 2021. Vicky is currently promoting his new film The Great Indian Family, and Katrina will soon be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas, with Vijay Sethupathi.
