Actor Vicky Kaushal, who kicked off 2023 with the hit film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, on Wednesday said that this phase in his career, where his movies are performing well at the box office, makes him feel grateful. Vicky was speaking at the launch of The Great Indian Family song Kanhaiya Twitter Pe Aaja in Mumbai.

The actor said, “I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart for what happened with Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The credit goes to people for showering love on the songs, story, and film. It was really special. It came at a time when some experts were saying such films will not work, and that this movie is meant for OTT.”

Vicky mentioned how varied types of films are now working in theatres, and he feels happy that audiences have been flooding cinema halls to watch movies of all kinds.

Vicky Kaushal also lauded the success of Gadar 2. The Sunny Deol starrer has Vicky’s father Sham Kaushal as the action director.

Talking about Gadar 2’s success, Vicky said, “What Gadar 2 is doing is incredible. It feels good that every film is celebrated. I pray that this film (The Great Indian Family) also receives more love. This is also a family film. This is something that we can rejoice and celebrate with our family. So, fingers crossed.”

Talking about The Great Indian Family, his first YRF film, the actor said, “I was very happy when The Great Indian Family was offered to me because it was my dream to do a YRF film. In my struggling days when I used to give auditions day in and day out, I did many of them at YRF. I used to look at YRF Studio and wonder if I’ll ever get to work in a YRF film. So this is like a dream come true for me.”

Opening up about the film’s premise, Vicky said, “The film is set in a fictional town named Balrampur. Bhajan Kumar is the Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson of Balrampur. He enjoys that rockstar feel. The attention that he gets, the celebration that he gets to be a part of, he enjoys that. Whether it is jagrata or birthday or mundan, he will go and spread his magic. This song (Kanhaiya Twitter Pe Aaja) brings that out incredibly, and that’s why, before the trailer came out, we thought to bring this song out.”
