Film producer Pahlaj Nihalani addressed rumours of marital discord between actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja. Although Nihalani and Govinda had a falling out some years ago after working together on numerous projects, Nihalani also spoke about rumours of the actor’s past affairs, and whether he’s seeing a Marathi actress currently. He said that in no circumstances will Govinda and his wife ever separate, even though they recently confirmed that they’d filed for divorce. In recent months, Sunita has hinted at his infidelities in several interviews, but has rubbished suggestions that she followed through with the divorce.
Asked if Govinda is seeing a Marathi actress, Nihalani told Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, “Listen, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda’s eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs. Plus, they’ve always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She’s always with him otherwise. He doesn’t have a single film right now, but he does shows daily, and she handles his business matters.” In a previous interview, Sunita had said that she had stopped looking after his professional life.
Nihalani admitted that he hasn’t been in touch with the couple, but he visited Govinda after his recent gunshot accident. “They are the best of friends,” he said. It was reported that Sunita filed for divorce from Govinda in 2024, but they sorted out their differences and are now back together. Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, suggested that Sunita had crossed the line in her interviews. “Sunita ji ne jo recent interviews mein baatein boli hain, yeh unn sab ka nateeja hai. Unhone zyaada bol diya hai (Sunita maam said a lot of things in recent interviews, she said too much. This is the result). And you know Govinda sir… there is friction,” he told HT City.
Sunita had also said in an interview with Hindi Rush that she and Govinda live separately, although she later walked back these comments. “We have two houses, we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking so he’ll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together, but we hardly talk because I feel if you end up wasting your energy by talking too much,” shared Sunita.
