Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga, which promotes the government’s flagship programme of Make in India, is set to get screened in 12 small towns. The move is aimed at helping villagers foster the spirit of entrepreneurship.
Sui Dhaaga released on September 28 this year and went on to garner positive reviews from the audience and critics alike. After getting lauded in big centres and cities, the Yash Raj production now targets smaller towns. While in Madhya Pradesh, Sui Dhaaga will be shown in Sidhi, Katni, Vidisha, Khandwa and Rajgarh, in Rajasthan, it will be screened at Banswara, Chhitorgarh, Kota, Sikar and Pali.
As reported by its team, make-shift tents are being set up for approx 200-300 people who will attend the screening. The organisers said they hope the film’s positive message will get conveyed to these villagers and encourage them to use their talent and turn entrepreneurs.
A source revealed, “The film’s impact was evident when it released. It became an overnight success with audiences and critics giving this special gem of a film two thumbs up. The brilliant story struck an emotional chord in the hearts of audiences Pan India and the film became a hit. Mauji and Mamta’s love story and their search for dignity and respect through self-reliance has moved audiences and seeing the reactions of the people, we wanted to take the film to as many people in India as possible.”

Directed by Sharat Katariya, Sui Dhaaga also stars Raghubir Yadav, Yamini Das and Namit Das. It follows the story of a couple from the hinterlands, Mauji and Mamta, played by Varun and Anushka, and how they embark on a journey of self-reliance, fighting all odds to set-up their small-scale clothing business.
