Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal had a beautiful wedding on June 23 in the presence of their close friends and family members after a relationship of over seven years. Their wedding caught a lot of attention and also sparked conversations around interfaith marriage. Now, the couple, who had an understated yet stylish wedding in Mumbai in the presence of their industry friends and family, have opened up about their views on them belonging to different religions.
In an interview with Times Entertainment, the couple called their interfaith wedding beautiful. Talking about the same, Sonakshi said Zaheer and she are not very different from each other as their core values are the same. She said, “Our parents have taught us to be good human beings and believe in God, irrespective of whatever name you know him by.”
Zaheer added to his wife’s opinion and said that they could have 50,000 disagreements but it will never have anything to do with religion. Sonakshi further added that in seven years of their relationship, the fact that they are from different faiths never came up in a discussion. She said, “We both respect other religions. It’s never been an issue for us or even a discussion.”
The Dabangg actress went on to add that their interfaith marriage made noise only outside and that she has learn to shut it out because it doesn’t matter to her or Zaheer.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who never denied or confirmed their relationship in public tied the knot last month. Several photos and videos from the wedding was widely shared online. The couple had starred together in the 2022 film Double XL. There were rumours that Sonakshi’s family was against the wedding. However, both her parents were part of the wedding festivities. Sonakshi’s brothers gave her wedding as well as the reception a miss.
