Shraddha Kapoor, currently basking in the success of her latest film Stree 2, opened up about the profound influence that her father, actor Shakti Kapoor, has had on her career. In an interview with NDTV, Shraddha discussed how her father’s hard work and perseverance have been a constant source of inspiration. She spoke about his humble beginnings, sharing how he came from a non-film background in Delhi before moving to Mumbai to chase his dreams of becoming an actor.

She shared, “He had no background. He studied in an acting school after he told his parents that he wanted to be an actor. My grandfather had a clothing shop. He asked him to work in a travel agency. But he followed his heart. He pursued his dream. From time to time, he inquires about my shoots. I ask him before I sign a film. I have tremendous respect for him. He’s someone who started from scratch. His stories are always inspiring.”

Shraddha also recalled an amusing anecdote about her father’s unique approach to convincing directors to cast him. “My father would land up at specific directors’ houses he wanted to work with even though the security was not letting him go up. He would dress up in the part he wanted to play and go to directors’ houses to convince them. That’s how he was cast. These kind of stories really motivate me to keep my head down. I am grateful to him for the opportunities I have got,” she said.

In his decades-long career, Shakti Kapoor has delivered numerous iconic performances in Hindi cinema, earning a reputation for his memorable portrayals of negative characters. Among his most legendary roles are Crime Master Gogo in Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s Andaz Apna Apna, Nandu in Govinda’s Raja Babu, Batuknath in ChaalBaaz and more.

Earlier, at the SCREEN launch event, Shraddha had revealed how living with her parents has helped her maintain balance in her life. “I will be very honest. I still live with my parents and my pets… and for me, it’s a blast. My entire journey has been a great time in the film industry. I feel like I have been very blessed. My parents have seen me go through the ups and downs, but I do believe that failure is supremely essential towards success. Failure is a very big teacher. I am blessed to have a fabulous support system. I am grateful for where I am, because several people are waiting to live the celluloid life,” she said.
