Shah Rukh Khan’s mansion Mannat is always on the list of fans and tourists from all over the world when they visit Mumbai. But come May, they will only get to see workers there as renovation work is on the cards for superstar’s house. Reports say that SRK, wife Gauri Khan and their kids, Abram, Suhana and AbRam will be shifting to Pali Hill at Mumbai’s Bandra where the star has leased four floors of a luxury apartment built by film producer Vashu Bhagnani.
SRK’s house Mannat will see some extensions and the work is planned for the next couple of years. Gauri Khan, in November last year, had sought permission of the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add two additional floors to the Mannat annexe. The proposal seeks to add two floors to the six-storey annexe behind the residence, increasing the built-up area by 616.02 square meters. Mannat is a Grade III heritage structure, and any structural change can only take place after securing proper permissions. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 25 crore.
Reports have it that recently SRK’s company Red Chillies Entertainment entered into a leave and licence agreement with Bhagnani’s actor son Jackky Bhagnani and his daughter Deepshika Deshmukh, who co-own the property, Puja Casa. As quoted in report by HT, “Each floor has one flat and while it is clearly not as spacious as Mannat, there is enough space to accommodate his security and other staff.” SRK will reportedly pay a monthly rent of Rs 24 lakh for the four floors.
Previously known as Villa Vienna, the heritage building, built in 1914 by Nariman K Dubash. SRK, who filmed a scene for the movie Yes Boss at Bandstand, liked the property so much that he purchased it in 2001. Because of its Grade Three heritage status, he wasn’t allowed to make many adjustments to it. He built the six-storey structure known as Mannat Annexe behind it.
