The list of celebrities who paid the highest amount of income tax in 2024 in India is out now and it is topped by actor Shah Rukh Khan. The Jawan actor reportedly paid Rs 92 crore in taxes, as per a report by Fortune India. Shah Rukh Khan is followed by the likes of Vijay, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. The highest tax paying celebrity cricketer in India is Virat Kohli who paid Rs 66 crore.
Vijay, who is on the brink of starting his political journey, paid Rs 80 crore in taxes and Salman Khan, who was last seen in Tiger 3, paid Rs 75 crore. Amitabh Bachchan, who declared combined assets of Rs 1,578 crore with wife Jaya Bachchan, paid taxes of Rs 71 crore.
The next actor on the list is Ajay Devgn, who reportedly paid Rs 42 crore in taxes. Ajay has appeared in two films this year – Shaitaan and Maidan – and will soon be seen leading Rohit Shetty’s cop film Singham Again. He was followed by Ranbir Kapoor, who paid Rs 36 crore in taxes. Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Ranbir’s wife, actor Alia Bhatt is missing from this list. Hrithik Roshan and Kapil Sharma paid Rs 28 crore and Rs 26 crore in taxes respectively.
Kareena Kapoor, who was last seen in Crew, paid Rs 20 crore in taxes. Her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, is missing from this list. Shahid Kapoor paid Rs 14 crore and so did actors Mohanlal and Allu Arjun. Kiara Advani, who famously endorses a bunch of brands, paid Rs 12 crore, followed by actors Katrina Kaif and Pankaj Tripathi, who bith paid Rs 11 crore. Aamir Khan, who has been on a break from movies since the debacle of Lal Singh Chaddha, paid Rs 10 crore.
Akshay Kumar, who has previously appeared on many such lists, was missing this year. In 2022, Akshay Kumar had received the ‘Samman Patra’ from Income Tax department for being the ‘highest taxpayer’ in the country. Speaking about the same, he previously told Aaj Tak, “My dad taught me to pay my taxes. I don’t want anyone to come to my house and ask where I have hidden the money.”
