Shah Rukh Khan didn’t have a mother in his life, felt like I should give him more ‘mamta’: Farida Jalal

Farida Jalal said that since she played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother or mother-like figure in so many films, she actually felt motherly love for him. “I have done so many films with him, played his mother. I really feel that feeling of a mother-son relationship with Shah Rukh. I really feel that and since he didn’t have a mother in his life so I used to always feel that I should give him more and more of all the ‘mamta‘ I can. It would come naturally to me,” she said. SRK’s mother passed away in 1990.

Farida recalled that her first meeting with Shah Rukh was on the set of Dil Aashna Hai, which was one of the first films that he had signed. “He was shy. He was not very open and kept to himself. I remember that.” She recalled meeting a different version of the actor on the set of DDLJ. “On the sets of DDLJ, he was a different Shah Rukh. Success does that to you also,” she said.

In an earlier chat with India Today, Farida Jalal said that she wished to reconnect with Shah Rukh Khan but said it was difficult to do so now. “But now, when I try calling him on that number, because I loved his success, his films, I want to tell him, ‘Bachcha, very good, I am very happy for you,’ but there is nobody on that line. If his secretary is not kind to you then what do you do? I have to go through somebody as I don’t have his number. So, Shah Rukh should think about this. When people want to talk to you what do they do?” she said.
