Zero has SRK playing a vertically challenged man. Talking about romancing King Khan in a very unique way, Katrina Kaif said, “It was tough and unusual. The natural equation that we have is different from the on-screen equation. The character is lively and doesn’t feel he is short. It was a technical procedure.”

Anushka Sharma, who plays Aafia, suffering from cerebral palsy, shared how she got into the shoes of her character, at the trailer launch of Zero. “I mean a character who has cerebral palsy, the only way I could emote was by just being centered on the chair. I used to spend all my time sitting on the chair. As an actor, you want to take up a challenge. It was difficult and rewarding for me. I was very nervous as I didn’t want to let down the character,” she said.

On Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, the makers finally released the trailer of Aanand L Rai directorial Zero and at three minutes long, the video reveals quite a bit of the movie. However, that doesn’t take away anything from the fact that the movie is going to be an entertainer. Here are five key takeaways from SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer Zero.
The ever-enigmatic Shah Rukh Khan
There is something about Shah Rukh Khan when he takes the screen. He is dynamic and lights up celluloid every single time. Sprouting lines in a witty, endearing fashion, Shah Rukh steals hearts in the Zero trailer as well.

At the trailer launch of the film, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan shared that he doesn't feel like he is constantly at the top of his game. The star also shared that he recently had a conversation with Thugs of Hindostan star Aamir Khan about the film and what it means to be a loser. “I feel like a loser all the time. I met Aamir Khan a few days back and he asked me why I keep thinking like that. After conversing (with him), I realised he thinks in the same way,” Shah Rukh said.

I am really happy about Deepika and Ranveer. I called her and wished her. Whenever someone gets married, it is a happy time. You feel like hugging them and blessing them, says Shah Rukh Khan.
Masha allah sab shaadi kar rahe hai. Main kya karu begani shaadi mein abdullah deewana, says Shah Rukh Khan
We are very quick to judge. I could be someone who can give positivity. I have lived a dream life. I wanted to be an actor. I wasn't gifted like Dilip saab, Kohli or Sachin. People said I am wheatish. I have a big nose and I talk fast. But I loved acting and continued doing so. I believed that I will do something. Everyone jumps the gun to look at the negative side but you should always find the good in people, says Shah Rukh Khan.
Even though the trailer is quite engaging, we feel that they have given out too much of the plot in this 3-minute trailer. The last shot of a space shuttle launch with SRK’s Bauua saying that he went for the moon is the only bit that has us intrigued. The music by Ajay-Atul serves the trailer well. As far as the performances are concerned, the three leads promise to deliver an entertaining performance.

Shah Rukh Khan: Inko practice karwa diya hai bachon ko ki pyaar kaise karna hai. I had no issues personally.
Anushka Sharma: Main sidha dekh rahi thi.
Katrina Kaif: It was tough and unusual. The natural equation that we have is different from the on-screen equation. The character is lively and doesn’t feel he is short. It was a technical procedure.
I have completed 10 years and in the same month, I am doing a film with SRK. Everything starts with zero, so I am excited and happy. I hope I get the same love and adulation as SRK, says Anushka Sharma.
Indianexpress.com's Arushi says, "The trailer of Zero seems to bring out the best of its three lead actors, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. It's delightful to see Shah Rukh do what he does the best - be romantic. Anushka's character suffers from cerebral palsy and she has left no stones unturned to make it real. From the moment she appears in the trailer, until the last second of the trailer, Katrina is a total stunner. The next best thing about the Aanand L Rai directorial is its music by composer duo Ajay-Atul. After watching the trailer, the wait for the film has got even more difficult."
It is not true that he approached many actors. He had spoken to Katrina Kaif. But Salman called me and said ek film aaya hai tu kar le. He suggested the song that we did together. But the reason he did that song was because he wanted to be a part of it, says Shah Rukh Khan.
We had to live the film more than act. I am a film star but I am a normal man. Life should be lived to the fullest. Believe in God and your parents. Believe in the goodness and positivity, says Shah Rukh Khan.
Technology should be there in everything. So much has changed. It can only enhance the vision of the directors. It’s shocking that Aanand has not used VFX much, says Shah Rukh Khan.
Aanand is an easy-going director. We have done things that we are doing for the first time. That shows his confidence and it makes it easier for actors. He is loving as a person and you don't feel like you are working. It was something tough but he made it really simple, says Anushka Sharma.
Indianexpress.com's Mimsansa says, "Shah Rukh Khan, despite playing a vertically challenged man, falls in love with Anushka Sharma, a scientist, who is fighting her own condition and fails to understand what appealed SRK's Bauua towards her. This paves way to an adorable and spicy love story betwen them. And just when we think everything is beautiful, with marriage being on the cards, enters Katrina Kaif as a troubled superstar who finds solace in Bauua. A chain of events follow and Bauua finds himself torn between the two women. As he tries to fix things around him, he lands up not just in the US but probably, even on a rocket! The trailer's quirky dialogues, amazing performances and a feel-good-factor is its high point. Supporting actors like Tigmanshu Dhulia and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub also make an appearance in the trailer."
It was easier for me. It was more difficult for Anushka. To pull that off is tough as you can go wrong by over or under doing it. We had freedom to do our things. Rest was done by VFX. But hats off to the girls for the patience as it took time, says Shah Rukh Khan.
For Zero, director Aanand L Rai has pushed all the three stars out of their comfort zone. On this, SRK said, "People offer me roles and say we don't want SRK. Reinvention is nothing, once you're stereotyped, you are stereotyped. But Aanand wanted to change everything. Mujhe chota kar diya, bubbly Anushka to chair pe daal diya. (He made me play a vertically challenged man and Anushka is playing a wheelchair-bound woman). And Katrina is playing a contradictory character. It was a challenge for Aanand to get all 3 stars to get out of their comfort zone."
Anushka Sharma said, "I mean a character who has cerebral palsy, the only way I could emote was by just being centred on the chair. I used to spend all my time sitting on the chair. As an actor, you want to take up a challenge. It was difficult and rewarding for me. I was very nervous as I didn't want to let down the character."
Katrina Kaif plays a film actor in Zero. On her character she said, "The profession is same but not personality. Honestly, it was an incredible journey. New journey where I learnt so much. Aanand sir was there with me throughout. It was a different and special film."
"People working in this film believe in different genres of romance. The expression of love in Zero is something I haven't seen before. I can't talk much but its a very real kind of love. Don't want to term it any way," Shah Rukh Khan said.
On asking when SRK last felt like a loser, he said, "I feel like a loser all the time. I met Aamir Khan a few days back and he asks me why I keep thinking like that. After conversing (with him), I realised he thinks like the same way."
"We all have moments when we feel like a zero. I asked AbRam to sit with me and he didn't, so I felt like a zero and felt I have been a bad father (laughs). Over-confidence is the worst thing. So I always feel I am not good enough and so I work hard everyday," Shah Rukh Khan said.
Zero director Aanand L Rai said, "This film is about a common man's victory. We sometimes neglect relationships and take them for granted. We shouldn't do that. This is a story of a man who fights himself and emerges as a winner."
At the trailer launch, Shah Rukh Khan shared that it was his dream to make a story on a vertically challenged man, a girl with cerebral palsy and an emotional incomplete child. He said, " We had our moments of doubts but it was only because of Aanand that we could make this film. He gave us so much confidence."
Shah Rukh Khan said, "As an actor, I am insecure, happy, sad, all the time and if it wasn't for Katrina and Anushka, I wouldn't have managed to do this tough task. They are very close to me so much that I even scold them sometimes."
SRK thanks fans and says that unfortunately Bauua couldn't come. He reads out a letter from him. SRK says he made his shirt out of Bauua Singh's gamcha.
In the letter, Bauua wishes SRK a happy birthday. Bauua thanks SRK for teaching him how to romance, spread his arms and dance on a train roof. Bauua also thanks him for entertaining the world.
Excited to finally present the trailer. Coming from a middle class family, we need reasons to celebrate. When I have SRK, why not celebrate, says Aanand L. Rai.
Zero actor Anushka Sharma is ready for the trailer launch.
"I believe ownership makes one very small. I believe I am the luckiest man that I no longer own my Birthday also...it belongs to all these beautiful ppl who love me and my family so much. Thank you God," Shah Rukh Khan said via Twitter.
