Sanam Teri Kasam re-release box office day 9: Despite the release of Vicky Kaushal’s historical actioner Chhaava, Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane’s film Sanam Teri Kasam, which re-released in theatres on February 7, is refusing to accept defeat. According to Sacnilk, the film raked in Rs 1.10 crore on Friday and is expected to mint Rs 2 crore on Saturday. The total collection of the film now stands at approximately Rs 27.60 crore net.
Originally released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam was made on a budget of Rs 15 crore but managed to collect only Rs 9 crore during its initial theatrical run. However, the film found its audience after its OTT release and gradually developed a cult following. Capitalizing on the ongoing trend of re-releasing old films in India, the makers chose the perfect time—Valentine’s Day week—to bring the film back to cinemas, aligning with its romantic theme. The re-release was historic, as Sanam Teri Kasam minted Rs 4.25 crore on its first day. On Day 2, it saw a significant 15 percent jump, grossing Rs 5 crore.
Before Sanam Teri Kasam, films like Laila Majnu and Tumbbad also had successful theatrical re-releases. As per Sacnilk, the film now needs less than Rs 5 crore more to become the highest-grossing re-release in India, surpassing Tumbbad, which had collected Rs 32 crore net in India last year.
Following the film’s re-release, John Abraham took to social media to congratulate Harshvardhan Rane. Now, Amitabh Bachchan has also given a shoutout to the movie on Instagram. Sharing the film’s poster on Saturday, he wrote, “All good wishes for this re-release .. 🙏🏼.”
Meanwhile, Sanam Teri Kasam’s lead actress, Mawra Hocane, recently tied the knot with fellow actor Ameer Gilani in Pakistan. It is only now that she has reacted to the film’s re-release in India. In an interview with Faridoon Shahryar, she said, “To be honest, if the film has waited nine years to achieve these numbers, I think it’s my husband bringing in the luck for sure. Because the only thing that has changed since then is this (Mawra getting married). The film was always there, and everything was there. I truly feel it’s the marriage luck because it’s literally the same dates.”
