The makers of the highly-anticipated biopic Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar, has released its official trailer, sparking immense excitement among fans. The film delves into the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, played by Vicky Kaushal, who was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. Manekshaw played a pivotal role in India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, leading to the creation of Bangladesh.
The trailer offers a sneak peek into Sam Manekshaw’s exceptional leadership and the formidable challenges he faced. The trailer showcases Manekshaw’s unwavering determination to win the war despite political pressure to maintain the status quo. The two-minute and thirty-eight-second trailer provides glimpses of Manekshaw’s illustrious 40-year military career, highlighting his relationship with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and how they worked together to defeat Pakistan. It also shows Manekshaw emphasising on the importance of discipline in the Army to a minister. The trailer concludes with Sam saying, ‘Hum rahe ya na rahi iss vardi ka gaurav hamesha rehna chahiye (Whether we live or die, the honor of this uniform must always endure).'”
Sanya Malhotra takes on the role of Siloo, Sam’s wife, while Fatima Sana Shaikh portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film also features Neeraj Kabi as Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Yahya Khan.
Vicky Kaushal, in an earlier conversation with India Today, expressed his pride in the film Sam Bahadur. He said, “It’s another film that I am really, really proud of. It’s about a great man. Once again, I’m working with Meghna Gulzar. There are a lot of things in the film that I want to talk about, but at the right time. It’s something I am really looking forward to.”
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the RSVP Movies banner, Sam Bahadur is scheduled to hit theatres on December 1. The film will clash with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, which is also set to release in theaters on the same day.
