Ranveer Singh reviews wife Deepika Padukone’s Kalki 2898 AD after watching the blockbuster film with her: ‘Poignancy, poetry, power’

Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and his family stepped out to watch Kalki 2898 AD on Tuesday evening. Ranveer was holding Deepika’s hand as he escorted her inside the theatre. Deepika, on the other hand, was all smiles as she spotted the paparazzi clicking their pictures. Deepika plays a supporting role in the blockbuster film, which has made more than Rs 600 crore worldwide so far.

After watching the film, Ranveer was blown away by his wife’s performance. He took to social media to share his review, and to congratulate director Nag Ashwin and his crew. Ranveer also praised the performances of Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and the film’s lead, Prabhas.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Ranveer wrote, “Kalki 2898 @kalki2898ad – a grand cinematic spectacle! That’s what big screen cinema is all about! An unprecedented level of finesse in technical execution. The very best in Indian cinema.”

Talking about Nag Ashwin’s filmmaking, Ranveer wrote, “Congrats to Nagi Sir & team! @nag_ashwin.” He then praised Prabhas as well as Kamal Haasan, adding, “Rebel Star rocks! @actorprabhas Ulaganayagan is forever supreme! @ikamalhaasan.”

Showering praises on Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the film, Ranveer said, “And if you are a die-hard Amitabh Bachchan fan like me..you just can’t miss this! @amitabhbachchan.”

Saving the best for the last, Ranveer then cheered for his wife, mommy-to-be Deepika Padukone. Appreciating her performance as Sumathi in Kalki 2898 AD, he wrote, “As for my baby @deepikapadukone … You elevate every moment with your grace & dignity. Such poignancy, such poetry, such power. You are beyond compare. I love you.”

Kalki 2898 AD was released in cinemas on June 27. In under a week’s time, the dystopian epic has already emerged as the biggest hit of the year so far. Deepika and Ranveer are expecting their first child together.
