Deepika Padukone, Allu Arjun’s film with Atlee is ‘something you may have never experienced in Indian cinema before,’ says Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh also said he has been a huge admirer of Atlee much before he attained wide acclaim and pan-India success with Jawan. ”Before he became a household name with Jawan and emerged as the biggest director in India, I had messaged him after Mersal (2017), and I was like, ‘I love your cinema, you should come to Mumbai, and we should make some movies together.’ This was back then. I wanted to collaborate with Atlee sir.”

AA22XA6 was officially announced on Allu Arjun’s 43rd birthday in April earlier this year. It will also be Deepika Padukone’s first on-screen pairing with the Pushpa star. Deepika came on board Atlee’s film following the controversy surrounding her reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.

Deepika was supposed to star opposite Prabhas in the Telugu action film Spirit, but after she welcome her daughter Dua last year, she decided to follow the eight-hour work shift that many male actors have been doing for years. That, apart from other reasons, was the deal-breaker for Sandeep and the production house, Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, after which Deepika opted for an exit.

Deepika Padukone was replaced by Triptii Dimri, who had worked with Sandeep Reddy Vanga in the 2023 blockbuster family crime drama Animal. Deepika then joined the cast of Atlee’s film with Allu Arjun, which also stars Mrunal Thakur. The film has assembled a seasoned crew from across the globe to build a quality spectacle. This will be Arjun’s first release post Sukumar’s blockbuster crime thriller Pushpa: The Rule last year.

Deepika is also a part of Siddharth Anand’s crime thriller King, in which she’ll be seen alongside her first Bollywood co-star Shah Rukh Khan. On the first day of her shoot, she penned a note of gratitude to Shah Rukh, claiming that ever since their first film together, Farah Khan’s 2007 hit reincarnation saga Om Shanti Om, he’s always insisted on working with people who you like and those who make the ride easy for you.
