Actor Ranbir Kapoor was recently seen in the film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, in which he plays the role of a relationship expert of sorts. In a recent promotional video for the film’s music, the actor said that even though he doesn’t have an account on social media, he is an expert at meme-game. Interestingly, while he recreated many Bollywood scenes into memes, netizens loved his version of wife Alia Bhatt’s scene from the film Raazi.

Ranbir recreated scenes, pairing them with situations. They ranged from Rajinikanth’s meme to Nana Patekar’s Welcome movie dialogue ‘Control Uday Control’. He also recreated his own scene from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, when he gets furious at seeing Naina (Deepika Padukone) with another guy (Rana Daggubati) and says, “Tu jaa”.

The last one was described as, “Rishtdaars at wedding: ‘Beta agla number tumhara hai na?’ (You are next).” At this, Ranbir enacted Alia’s emotional scene from the film Raazi, where she cries, standing against a wall and says, “Mujhe Ghar Jana Hai (I want to go home).”

In the same video, Ranbir also created meme of his song Channa Mereya from the film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Netizens were quick to catch on to the last meme. “The last one. Arre biwi se darr apni,” another one wrote, “last wala acha tha alia”. Fans also demanded a version from Ranbir’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar co-star Shraddha Kapoor.

Ranbir and Shraddha’s film is directed by Luv Ranjan of Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express wrote in the film’s review, “Not content with one monologue, we get several: has anyone heard of jokes getting worn out? Misogynistic, sexist lines, a Luv Ranjan film staple, keep popping up: what’s a maleverse without dashes of sexism and misogyny? A little girl is handed out some deeply problematic lines, and placed in even more problematic situations. And the gracious Dimple Kapadia, as Mickey’s loving mommy, is turned into a harridan, and made to slap her ‘puttar’ more than once. How long, dear Bollywood, will slaps be played for laughs?”
