Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor slashed fees for Fashion, Heroine, says Madhur Bhandarkar: ‘Entire film was resting on their shoulders’

Madhur Bhandarkar, who is known for making films like Fashion, Page 3, Corporate among many others, recently shared that actors like Tabu and Priyanka Chopra slashed their fee when they worked with him because they were keen on getting the films made and did not want to burden the film with their fee. “Every female actor slashed her price when working with me,” shared Madhur with Bollywood Hungama. Madhur shared that Tabu made a deal against the number of tickets sold for Chandni Bar and didn’t charge any other fee for the film.

Madhur recalled that they had a budget of just Rs 1.5 crore for Chandni Bar and shared, “She took money against Bombay or Delhi territory, and nothing else apart from that.” Madhur added that not just Tabu, even Raveena Tandon, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor slashed their fee for Satta, Corporate, Fashion and Heroine. “They didn’t charge the market price from me because they were keen on making these movies. The entire film was resting on their shoulders so everybody slashed their prices,” he said.

In the same chat, Madhur also spoke about the rising entourage cost of actors and insisted that this should be controlled as it increases the cost of the film exponentially. When asked how much does a star’s entourage cost. Madhur revealed that he had never faced unnecessary demands and said that the cost for these things depends on the film’s budget.

Madhur Bhandarkar has previously received National Film Awards for his films like Traffic Signal, Page 3, Chandni Bar. He said that he is planning to make a sequel for his Priyanka Chopra-starrer film Fashion but added that he isn’t sure if he wants to make a film or an OTT series. Madhur said that he has enough material that can go on for 2-3 seasons.
