Priyadarshan shares he is willing to do Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar says, ‘I got the best gift of my life’

The third instalment of the popular comedy franchise Hera Pheri was unofficially announced back in 2023. Earlier, it was reported that Akshay Kumar was not a part of the film. The actor had even confirmed the same at an event where he cited “creative differences” as his reason to not star in the movie. However, on the occasion of his birthday today, filmmaker Priyadarshan confirmed Hera Pheri 3 is in the works.

Earlier today, Akshay Kumar shared a birthday note for Priyadarshan on his Instagram handle. The actor wrote, “Happy Birthday, Priyan Sir! What better way to celebrate than by spending the day on a haunted set, surrounded by ghosts…both real and unpaid extras? Thank you for being a mentor, and the only person who can make chaos look like a masterpiece. May your day be filled with fewer retakes. Wishing you a fantastic year ahead!”

Priyadarshan shared the post on his Instagram Story, and surprised his fans by writing, “Thank you so much for your wishes Akshay Kumar. In return I would like to give you a gift, I am willing to do Hera Pheri 3, are you ready Akshay?” He also tagged actors Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.

A surprised Akshay wrote, “Sir! Your birthday and I got the best gift of my life. Chalo karte hain phir thodi hera pheri.”

Priyadarshan’s surprise didn’t just stun Akshay Kumar but also Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty. Taking to his X handle, Paresh, who played the iconic character of Babu Bhaiya, wrote, “Dear Priyan ji You are the Mother who brought this divine bundle of joy in this world ! Thanks once again for taking custody of this ever smiling baby! Welcome sir and make the world happy again.”

Suniel Shetty shared his excitement and wrote, “Hera Pheri aur pooch pooch!!! Lets do this.”

Gulshan Grover, who was part of the first film, also reacted to the news on X. He wrote, “KABIRA SPEAKING… Hera Pheri3 ! Kabira is exited … let’s do it. This is the best news I have heard.”

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan recently surprised their fans by announcing the horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla. Now, with the confirmation of Hera Pheri 3 with the OG gang, Priyadarshan has doubled his fans excitement.

Speaking about Hera Pheri 3, Akshay Kumar had previously shared that the producers will begin shooting the new film in 2025 after completing their current commitments. While it was confirmed the OG gang was returning for the film, it was not known if Priyadarshan will return to the director’s seat.
