Param Sundari box office collection Day 2: Maddock Films’ romantic comedy Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, had a decent start at the box office with collections of Rs 7.25 crore on its first day. On Day 2, the Tushar Jalota directorial witnessed a healthy 24.14% growth, earning an estimated Rs 9 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s total collection stands at Rs 16.5 crore.
Param Sundari recorded an overall 18.13% Hindi occupancy on Saturday. The film registered 9.67% in the morning shows, which improved to 18.03% in the afternoon and 19.70% in the evening. The highest turnout came during the night shows, with occupancy peaking at 25.11%.
Headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, Param Sundari marks Sidharth Malhotra’s fifth-biggest opening to date and his strongest performance since Thank God (2022). Among his solo releases, it stands as his biggest opener since Marjaavaan (2019).
Director Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain (2014) remains Sidharth Malhotra’s career-best opening day grosser, earning Rs 16.70 crore net. It is followed by Brothers (2015), co-starring Akshay Kumar, which collected Rs 15.21 crore. Thank God (2022), alongside Ajay Devgn, ranks third with Rs 8.10 crore, while Sidharth’s debut film, Student of the Year (2012), takes the fourth spot with Rs 7.48 crore net.
Param Sundari opened to poor reviews on August 29. An excerpt from the SCREEN review read, “The only reason to stay with the film is that both Sidharth and Janhvi are so easy on the eye, but that’s also the trouble: they are too easy around each other. They are paired for the first time, and that should have automatically lent this enterprise some freshness, but clearly that’s asking for too much. Old Bollywood habits of relying upon tropes and stereotypes kick in.”
