Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding was poised to be the internet’s next heart-melting moment—especially after their viral proposal and Smriti’s much-shared celebratory dance with her Team India mates. Soon, pictures from their pre-wedding festivities began circulating online, with fans manifesting a similar fairytale romance for themselves. But celebrations came to an abrupt halt when Smriti’s father fell seriously ill, leading to the wedding being postponed.

The sudden turn of events sparked online speculation, with many rumours floating around, leading to a backlash against Palash. The composer has been admitted to a Mumbai hospital after returning from the wedding venue in Sangli on Sunday for exhaustion. His sudden departure from Sangli led to speculation. It intensified when Smriti and members of the Indian cricket team removed pictures and videos from the wedding festivities.

In response, Palash’s cousin, Neeti Tak, took to Instagram Stories to defend him.

She wrote: “Palash is going through a critical condition today. You all should not judge him without knowing the truth… Technology has come far ahead of humans, and people should not form opinions based on rumours. Pray for him.”

Previously, Palash’s sister and singer Palak Muchhal had requested for privacy.

Earlier, Palash’s mother had stated that Palash, deeply attached to Smriti’s father, was hospitalised in Sangli shortly after the incident, though he was discharged soon after and he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Palash Muchhal’s mother said that it was her son who insisted that the pheras should not take place until Smriti’s father recovered. “After the incident, he cried so much that he had to be hospitalised for four hours. He was given an IV drip. He was extremely stressed,” she said.

Smriti and Palash had recently completed their haldi ceremony and were scheduled to marry on November 23. Smriti’s father has now been discharged.
