Following the news around Indian star cricketer Smriti Mandhana, who has deleted all posts and videos from her pre-wedding celebrations with fiancé Palash Muchhal from her Instagram profile, Palash’s sister, renowned singer Palak Muchhal, was seen visiting her brother at a hospital in Mumbai. The move comes amid a series of medical emergencies involving both families. Days after Smriti’s father was hospitalised, leading to the postponement of the couple’s wedding, Palash himself was also admitted to a hospital.
On Tuesday morning, his sister, renowned singer Palak Muchhal, was seen arriving at the hospital to visit him. Palak entered quickly and chose not to interact with the paparazzi gathered outside. Her visit came a day after she publicly addressed the mounting speculation, urging privacy during what she called a difficult period for both families. “Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time,” she wrote in an Instagram note.
Despite the families’ appeal, speculation around Smriti and Palash’s relationship has intensified on social media. Rumours about the wedding being “called off” have been circulating widely, especially reports suggesting trouble between the couple are doing the rounds. The couple’s wedding was originally scheduled to take place in Sangli on November 23 but was postponed indefinitely following her father’s sudden hospitalisation.
What added to the rumours was the fact that the groom’s family flew back to Mumbai from Sangli on Sunday amid Smriti’s father’s hospitalisation. However, his mother later claimed it was due to his ill health and he is now admitted to a hospital in Goregaon due to ‘exhaustion and stress’.
While Smriti has removed the pre-wedding content, including snapshots from the haldi, mehendi, and sangeet ceremonies, she has retained older posts featuring Palash, such as birthday messages and a shared photo. Palash, too, has kept his earlier posts with Smriti, though none from the recent celebrations remain on his profile.
A day after the wedding was put on hold, Palash was admitted to a hospital in Sangli. His mother told the Hindustan Times that Palash shares a close bond with Smriti’s father and insisted they should not proceed with the wedding rituals until his health improves. She insisted Palash took the decision even before Smriti.
While Smriti has not spoken about the delay, her manager Tuhin earlier told media, “Mr Shrinivasa Mandana was having breakfast when his health deteriorated. We called for an ambulance and took him to the hospital. He is under observation. Since Smriti is so close to her father, she decided that till her father recovers, the wedding is indefinitely postponed.
Smriti and Palash began dating in 2019 and kept their relationship private for years. They confirmed it publicly only in July 2024.
