Mika wanted Gauri Khan to design his 99th house, Shah Rukh Khan joked ‘lootegi tujhe, mehenga karegi’

Mika Singh shared that Gauri Khan asked him to not question her decisions when designing his house.

Interior designer Gauri Khan has designed the houses of many celebrities, including Ananya Panday and Sidharth Malhotra, among others. In a recent interview, singer Mika Singh shared that Gauri has designed his Mumbai home, and recalled the conversation that he had with Shah Rukh Khan about getting her on board. He shared that before Gauri took over the project, she had a condition. She told Mika that he should not question her decisions, and Mika followed her rules obediently. He did not even visit the house, which happens to be the 99th property that he bought, for nearly two years so Gauri could work in peace.

In a chat with Pinkvilla, Mika that Shah Rukh is “very kind” and a “great friend.” “He is like my brother. He really loves me a lot even though I have done very few songs with him,” he said, and shared that he requested Shah Rukh to put in a word on his behalf. “I requested him that please ask Gauri bhabhi to do the interiors. He said ‘Nahi yaar, boht lootegi tumhe, boht mehenga karegi’. Jaan bhoojh ke dara rahe the mujhe. (No man, she will make it very expensive. He was scaring me). I said ‘Paaji please’. He said ‘tu khud baat kar’ (You talk to her yourself),” he recalled.

Mika said that after he spoke to Gauri, her team came over to check the place out, and then, Gauri placed her demand in front of Mika. “Gauri ma’am had one demand that whatever I do, you can’t question me. Like usually, I don’t use green colour in my house, I only use beige. All my houses only have brown and beige. In the middle of this house, she has added a green couch. It took her almost two years to do this and I never questioned her. I didn’t even come and see it while she was working on it, but you can see the result of my patience. So once again, ‘Thank you Gauri bhabhi for such a wonderful house’,” he said.

Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will soon be moving out of their home in Bandra. Mannat, which will be undergoing a renovation and the Khan family will be relocating to a temporary residence in Bandra’s Pali Hill.
