Kiran also said that the family set up of Aamir Khan is “unique” and that Reena never left the family after she and Aamir got divorced in 2002. She said, “Reena never left the family. It was very much the same when Aamir and Reena got divorced. The family was highly protective of Reena and when I got married, Reena was a part of the family and we became really good friends because she is an incredible human-being. I absolutely love her, she’s a dear friend.”

Kiran also opened up about how even after calling it quits, Kiran and her son Azad, and Aamir and his children Ira and Junaid, all of them stay in close proximity and are indeed close as family and were together planning Ira’s wedding with Nupur Shikhare in January. Kiran also said, “I am glad that people takeaway that it is possible to have this crazy family because this is us, this is really who we are.”

Kiran and Aamir tied the knot in 2005 and welcomed their son Azad through surrogacy. The couple announced their decision to divorce after fifteen years of marriage in 2021. They shared a joint statement on social media where they thanked their family and friends for their continuous support in this matter. They also stated that they would continue to co-parent their son Azad.
