Kiara Advani auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha but won’t watch it herself: ‘I was terrible’

Kiara Advani revealed that she auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha unknowingly, but the audition was "terrible", so she never got the part.

Actor Kiara Advani could have been the Rupa in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha had she nailed her audition. The actor recently revealed that she auditioned for the movie unknowingly, but the audition was “terrible”, so she never got the part.

During a recent interaction with Film Companion, Kiara shared, “I auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha. At the time I didn’t know it was for Laal Singh Chaddha. I really don’t want to see that audition though. I think I was terrible. It was many many years ago. I realised much later it was for Laal Singh Chaddha.”

As Kiara tried to confirm with her team that she auditioned for it, they hid their face in embarrassment and the actor said, “They don’t want to say anything, I don’t know why.”

Earlier Aamir Khan had revealed they were looking for a younger actor to essay the role of Rupa. But they couldn’t find a perfect fit and ended up signing Kareena Kapoor Khan for the role. But, before signing Kareena, they took her audition as well.

Kareena told PTI in an earlier interview, “Laal Singh Chaddha is possibly the only film in my career I’ve auditioned for. I would never do it for any kind of cinema or anybody in this world other than Aamir.”

Laal Singh Chaddha is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film also starred Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh among others in pivotal roles. The film tanked at the box office upon its theatrical release but it found many admirers when it released online on Netflix.

Unlike Kareena, Kiara is open to giving auditions as she believes, “Casting is such an important part of filmmaking because the right cast can add so much more value to the film. It’s not about, ‘who’s the better actor’. It is about, ‘Who fits the part’.”

Kiara was last seen in Satyaprem Ki Katha, a film that brought her accolades for her performance as a rape survivor. She will next be seen sharing the screen with Ram Charan in the film titled Game Changer. She is also said to be doing War 2 along with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
