Kajol was joined by her Do Patti co-star Kriti Sanon at the fourth session of Expresso held at Mumbai’s Taj Land’s End on Monday. During the event, Kajol called herself the ‘laziest person’ and spoke about taking long breaks in her career. She also spoke about how despite coming from an illustrious film family, she created her legacy with her work.

She said, “If you see my filmography, I am probably the least worked actor. My mom (veteran actor Tanuja) and grandmom (late director and actor Shobhna Samarth) always told me that work is a part of your life not your whole life. I did take breaks. I wanted to get married and have kids. Thankfully I am still working and I’m still relevant.” She humorously added, “I am thankful to everyone for having a good taste so far.”

Kajol also emphasised that being from a film family didn’t give her the cushion to take breaks, but it was her work. “It isn’t about legacy. It is every woman’s work. Nargis, Sharmila Tagore had no legacy. What I am today isn’t because of my lineage. It is the legacy of every woman who has worked. Every woman has to take a call that now I will take a break and if I want to come back, I will come back and she will be able to do that if she wants to,” she said.

Do Patti will see Kajol stepping into the role of a cop for the first time, marking an exciting new chapter in her career. It also serves as her second collaboration with Kriti Sanon, following their work together in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles.

A 90s icon, Kajol remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stars, having headlined iconic films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Gupt, Ishq, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Fanaa, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and many more. In recent years, she has shifted her focus toward more female-centric roles, with projects such as Salaam Venky, Devi, and Tribhanga. Kajol was last seen in Lust Stories 2, and although her web series debut with The Trial, a courtroom drama where she played a lawyer, received mixed reviews, Kajol’s performance was widely praised by both critics and audiences alike.

Do Patti actors Kajol and Kriti Sanon took part in The Indian Express Expresso on Monday.

Looking ahead, Kajol has an exciting lineup of projects. She will star in Kayoze Irani’s Sarzameen, alongside Ibrahim Ali Khan, Saif Ali Khan’s son. Additionally, she has Maharagni – Queen of Queens, directed by Charan Tej Uppalapati, where she plays the titular role, co-starring Prabhu Deva, Naseeruddin Shah, Samyuktha Menon, and Jisshu Sengupta. Kajol will also be seen in Vishal Furia’s Maa.
