It’s going to be a clash of the titans as Jr NTR comes on board to star in the sequel of the blockbuster actioner War, where he will lock horns with actor Hrithik Roshan. War 2, set to be directed by Ayan Mukerji, will go on floors by the end of the year.
The film is billed as a true blue pan-India outing with the coming together of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR–currently riding on a global wave of popularity with the Oscar-winning RRR. War 2, according to trade sources, will be an “action spectacle” with a “battle of wits and the fierce showdown” between Hrithik and Jr NTR.
“NTR Jr. is locking horns with Hrithik Roshan in War 2 and it’s going to be an epic action adventure. Their battle of wits and the fierce showdown will be an action spectacle worth experiencing on the big screen. War 2 is now a true blue pan-India film with top superstars from the Northern and Southern industry.
“The move by Aditya Chopra enables War 2 to have the widest audience appeal for a Hindi Film and also amped up the box office potential of the film. The Southern market should come alive and connect at an even bigger level due to the presence of their beloved young tiger – NTR Jr,” a trade source said.
YRF’s ambitious spy universe, which kicked off with Shah Rukh Khan’s global hit Pathaan, will now see films like Tiger 3, headlined by Salman Khan, War 2 and the Tiger v/s Pathaan film, which would feature the epic clash of Salman and Shah Rukh.
War, which released in 2019, had also starred Tiger Shroff. The film was directed by Siddharth Anand, who eventually went on to direct Pathaan for YRF. War 2 will see Ayan Mukerji stepping into the world of YRF spy universe after his fantasy action adventure Brahmastra.
