The last time Diljit Dosanjh and Alia Bhatt worked in a film together, and sang their way into our hearts, it was a song about one woman aka “Ikk Kudi” for the 2016 movie Udta Punjab. Eight years later, this rocking duo have reunited to sing about a woman, but are urging her to move ahead even if she is all alone. Titled “Chal Kudiye”, this special number will feature in Alia’s upcoming film, Jigra. Composed by Manpreet Singh, and written by Harmanjeet Singh, “Chal Kudiye” is sung by Diljit and Alia.
Here’s the song:
Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is pegged to be an action adventure involving a prison break facilitated by Alia Bhatt, who plays a doting sister wanting to save her brother (Vedang Raina) from the clutches of a foreign prison. The teaser, which was released last week, showcased Alia at her best action avatar yet, and still managed to tug at our heartstrings with the strong emotional undercurrent.
This is a strong departure from the style of Vasan Bala, who previously helmed quirky entertainers like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Monica O My Darling. However, one look at his writing credits, which includes films like Raman Raghav 2.0 and Bombay Velvet, we can rest assured that Jigra will be a gritty actioner.
