After dominating the box office for a month, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan is now recording an expected drop in collections. According to market tracker Sacnilk, on its 30th day of release, the film made about Rs 1.30 crore, its lowest single-day collection so far. Overall, Jawan has earned Rs 618.83 crores in India. The had surpassed Pathaan and Gadar 2 to become Bollywood’s highest-grossing film in India.
Shah Rukh recently broke his own box office record when Jawaan surpassed Pathaan and secured the second position as the biggest-ever Hindi movie in India. Globally, Jawan has grossed Rs 1,103 crore so far, ranking fifth on the all-time India list. The top spot is still held by Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which earned Rs 2,400 crore, with a major portion of its earnings coming from China.
Two other films were released this week– Akshay Kumar’s Mission Raniganj and Thank You for Coming, featuring Bhumi Pednekar. According to Sacnilk, Akshay’s film has garnered approximately Rs 2.8 crore in earnings, while the Bhumi Pednekar-starrer has earned nearly 80 lakhs at the box office.
Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles. SRK will next be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which will release in theatres on Christmas this year.
Atlee recently said that he will ‘definitely’ make Jawan 2. In an interview with Pinkvilla, he said, “See every film of mine has such kind of [open] ending. I never thought of doing a sequel to any of my films. I gave an open arc to it and if something strong comes to me, definitely I will come up with it (sequel). Let’s see.”
