Indian Premier League 2024 has kicked off in Chennai with a bang, with celebrities adding star power to the proceedings.

During the opening ceremony, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff energetically performed some popular songs, including “Chura Ke Dil Mera”, and “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar”, among others. The two actors also took a bike ride along the boundary, with Akshay driving and Tiger standing behind him with the Indian flag in his hand.

The ceremony also saw AR Rahman perform, with one of the songs being “Nee Singham Dhan”, “Maa Tujhe Salaam” from the film Pathu Thala. Sonu Nigam also mesmerised the audience with his voice as he sang “Vande Matram”.

The 17th edition of the IPL kickstarted in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are playing the opening game.
