Actor Hina Khan attended an interaction with spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, where she asked him a couple of cheeky questions along with her husband, entrepreneur, Rocky Jaiswal. Hina and Rocky recently got married after being together for over a decade. They asked the spiritual leader about philosophical ideas such as love and hate, and religious harmony. But they also took the opportunity to ask him if he has ever experienced the joys of romantic love, and eating tandoori chicken.
He continued, “Science says that vegetarian food is more suitable for human beings. You have to understand that the most powerful animals on earth, such as elephants and horses and cows, they are all vegetarian. For human system, science says that we should have easily digestible food. But non-veg food takes eight to 10 hours to digest. From many angles, vegetarian diet is more suitable.” He said that being a vegetarian isn’t necessary if one wants to embark upon a spiritual path, but that after a point, someone who has begun such a journey would instinctively feel the need to quit meat.
In the same interaction, Hina asked Sri Sri if he has ever experienced romantic love, and the guru replied, “Often, people become babas after experiencing heartbreak. That didn’t happen with me. Although I advise many people who’ve experienced heartbreak themselves.” Reflecting on divisiveness in society, he said that hate is not the natural order of things, because no child is born with hate in their hearts.
