Actor Harman Baweja has scripted a resounding comeback and filmmaker Hansal Mehta is the happiest. The director says actor Harman has made everyone proud with his impressive turn as ACP Shroff in the director’s latest Scoop and silenced all his “Critic Roshans” with his performance.

Harman began his career with Love Story 2050 opposite Priyanka Chopra in 2008. The film sank and so did his next few films, making him quit the industry after his 2014 film Dishkiyaoon. Throughout his career, Harman was at the receiving end of scathing media articles and constant comparison with superstar Hrithik Roshan.

Hansal Mehta took to Instagram and posted a note for Harman, writing that the actor in Scoop has “truly been a revelation.” His caption read, “Giving it another chance! Harman Baweja has truly been a revelation. Silencing his ‘Critic Roshans’ with his performance. Here’s Baweja proving that nothing is ever ‘Bewajah’. And in the process making all of us proud.”

Harman himself had made fun of the criticism he had received in a sketch uploaded by Netflix titled ‘Harman Baweja gets his revenge’. “Oh God! Please. Let me silence my Hrithiks. I mean critics. I thought I knew what the future would be, but I was wrong. But I was not the only one. Even they were wrong,” the actor says, pointing to the headlines ‘Harma Be-Waja’ and ‘The Future Doesn’t Look Roshan For Him’. The actor then says, “You know what I call my haters? Critic Roshans.”

In an interview with Mid-Day, the actor had opened up about the times when he made sure that newspapers do not reach his house so that his mother does not get to read all the bad things which were being written about her son.

“I feel that the media was absolutely unfair to me. When I had done my first few films, a barrage of harsh and mean things was written (about me). It’s part and parcel of the business, but it hurts when it gets too personal. There were times when I’d make sure that the papers didn’t come home, or that my mom didn’t see them.”

Inspired by Jigna Vora’s biographical book Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison, Scoop is created by Hansal Mehta and Thappad co-writer Mrunmayee Lagoo. The series is headlined by Karishma Tanna, starring as Jagruti Pathak, an ambitious crime journalist, who becomes a murder suspect.
