Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s new comedy drama, Dunki, witnessed its steepest fall in collections post the holiday season on Tuesday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, director Rajkumar Hirani‘s film netted Rs 3.85 cr– its lowest single-day haul yet. The fall in the collections was expected after the Christmas and New Year holidays. Dunki’s 13-day India total now stands at Rs 200.62 cr, while its worldwide collections are under Rs 410 cr.

The film will soon overtake the lifetime global collection of Shah Rukh’s Chennai Express, which made Rs 423 crore. The movie has already overtaken the lifetime collection of Raees and Happy New Year, although it’ll ultimately end its run with less than half of what Jawan and Pathaan made globally last year.

The collections of Dunki will also fall short of Hirani’s last film, Sanju. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer had ended its domestic run with Rs 342 cr while, its worldwide total was Rs 586 cr. Dunki, however, will emerge as the highest grossing comedy drama of the post-pandemic era — a time when big actioners are dominating the box office.

Sacnilk reported that Dunki had crossed 1 crore footfalls, becoming the third consecutive Shah Rukh Khan film after Pathaan and Jawan to achieve this feat. The combined footfalls of the three films are more than 8 cr. In terms on global collections, Shah Rukh had had a dream comeback at the box office with more than Rs 2,598 cr clocked with the three films. The final worldwide figure will be clear once Dunki ends its run.

Dunki recorded its best occupancy–16 percent–for night shows. With no film releasing till Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone’s Fighter on January 25, Dunki will have a free run at the box office, along with Prabhas’ actioner Salaar, which released on December 22, and has grossed over Rs 627 crore worldwide.
