A day after announcing that she has adopted as many as 30 stray dogs and cats from her neighbourhood to mark her upcoming birthday on November 13, actor Payal Ghosh has once again made headlines by taking strict action against her house help, who allegedly physically attacked one of her rescued stray dogs. Payal also revealed that she has decided to pursue the matter legally, emphasising that she won’t spare anyone who mistreats her canine companions.
“I had to rush him to a veterinarian the moment I saw the condition. There was blood flowing from his stomach part… I can’t express the pain I felt seeing that. These animals trust us completely, and to see them hurt like that is unbearable,” she revealed during a conversation with Bollywood Bubble. The incident reportedly happened at the shelter area within her premises, and Payal was away for work when the house help allegedly hit the dog multiple times with a wooden stick, leaving him bleeding.
“Animal cruelty should never be ignored — not in any form. I’ve always treated my strays like family, and I will not let anyone harm them. I will pursue this matter legally so that it serves as a lesson to anyone who thinks they can hurt voiceless beings and get away with it,” she added.
In an interview with the Times of India recently, Payal had spoken at length about her decision to adopt stray animals, revealing that she made the decision after seeing the way many of them were treated on the streets. “These innocent souls go through so much pain, and I just couldn’t ignore it anymore,” she said, adding that she has also put in place a system to help her monitor the well-being of her furry friends even when she’s away for work. However, the latest incident has highlighted the need for the actor to establish a more effective mechanism to ensure their safety.
Known for her roles in movies like Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi and Oosaravelli, as well as the television show Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Payal Ghosh joined Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale’s Republican Party of India (A) in 2020.
