Deols have double reasons to celebrate. Dharmendra’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 have become humongous hits. Still, Dharmendra feels, that despite their success, their family has never been given its due. He believes, that not just he and Sunny, but Bobby Deol too is doing well for himself, yet nobody “acknowledges” the work done by his family.
In a recent interview with Times Now, the veteran star shared that his is a family that doesn’t “market” itself and his family members believe in letting their work speak for them. Sunny Deol, despite being a part of two of the biggest blockbusters, has never boasted about them, believes his father.
Dharmendra added, “But my family has never been given our due.” He said that his family thrives on the love of their fans and “don’t mind” the industry not recognising their contribution to the Hindi cinema. He also mentioned he didn’t receive any award for the 1969 film Satyakam. The film also starred Sharmila Tagore, Ashok Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar.
Sunny Deol’s latest release Gadar 2 has been creating box office records since its release on August 11. The film has earned Rs 308.5 crore in the domestic market within seven days of its release. The actioner is the second film of the year to cross the Rs 300 cr mark after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has brought a lot of love and adulation to Dharmendra for his role of Ranveer Singh’s grandfather in the movie. His on-screen chemistry with Shabana Azmi is also appreciated by many. Dharmendra has all the good things to say about the team of the film including Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar.
