Deva teaser: The makers of the upcoming action thriller Deva have sounded the trumpet, marking Shahid Kapoor’s return to the big screen — this time in khaki. Interestingly, the teaser features no dialogue but brims with Shahid’s trademark swagger and also highlights his finesse in action and dance sequences. The 52-second teaser promises a film packed with high-octane action, mesmerising dance moves and a gripping storyline.
The promo begins showing Shahid owning the dance floor as an enthusiastic crowd cheers him on. While his moves are undeniably impressive, there’s something mysterious about him. Dressed in a white shirt, he pairs it with uniform pants, shoes and a holstered gun. As the teaser unfolds, it becomes clear that Shahid plays a fearless cop who will stop at nothing to solve cases, showing no hesitation or remorse in his methods.
In this intense avatar, the actor delivers raw and unfiltered action sequences that promise to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Shahid’s portrayal suggests a fierceness that might even surpass the raw energy of his Kabir Singh (2019). From high-speed chases to adrenaline-pumping fight sequences, Shahid owns every moment, with the teaser indicating that Deva will exceed the expectations of fans. In the end, the teaser also pays homage to “Bollywood’s Shahenshah” Amitabh Bachchan and his legacy, with Shahid Kapoor embodying that powerful aura in a modern twist.
Alongside Shahid, the film features Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana and Kubbra Sait in key roles. Directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews — known for hits like Udayananu Tharam (2005), Notebook (2006), Mumbai Police (2013), Prathi Poovankozhi (2019) and Salute (2022) — Deva is written by Bobby-Sanjay, Hussain Dalal, Abbas Dalal, Arshad Syed and Sumit Arora.
The film’s music is composed by Vishal Mishra, with Jakes Bejoy crafting the original background score. Amit Roy has handled the cinematography, while A Sreekar Prasad and Sandeep Sharad Ravade took charge of editing and production design, respectively. Deva, produced by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films, is set to hit the screens on January 31.
