Chhaava box office collection Day 1 early estimate: One of the most anticipated films of 2025, Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava hit theatres on Valentine’s Day and has become the highest opening Hindi film of the year. According to Sacnilk, the film’s domestic collection stood at Rs 15.51 crore in India by 7 PM, with expectations of the movie crossing the Rs 20 crore mark by the end of its first day.

Chhaava has also outperformed Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force. Until now, Sky Force held the record for 2025’s highest first-day grosser, collecting Rs 12 crore. With Chhaava already surpassing that figure, it has now become the biggest opener of the year so far.

The film saw a strong opening, recording a 30.51 per cent occupancy for its Hindi 2D version during morning shows, outperforming Sky Force and Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar in terms of footfall. In comparison, Sky Force recorded a morning show occupancy of 10.29 per cent on its release day, while Badass Ravi Kumar saw 13.09 per cent.

Additionally, Chhaava surpassed Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which was based on the life of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare. The Ajay Devgn-starrer had opened with a 22 per cent occupancy in morning shows, while Chhaava registered 30.51 per cent. Tanhaji’s opening day collection was Rs 15.10 crore, a number that Chhaava has already surpassed.

The film’s occupancy further increased in the afternoon, reaching 34.50 per cent, showing a steady upward trend. In Mumbai, Chhaava had 1,231 shows and enjoyed nearly 50 per cent occupancy. In the NCR region, it was screened across 1,281 shows, recording a 17 per cent occupancy rate. Pune emerged as one of the strongest markets for the film, with an impressive 71 per cent occupancy across 667 shows, while Ahmedabad saw a 14 per cent occupancy over 657 shows.

For Vicky Kaushal, Chhaava marks a significant milestone, as it has become the biggest opener of his career. The film has surpassed the opening-day collections of his previous hits, including Uri: The Surgical Strike, which minted Rs 8.20 crore on its first day, and Bad Newz, which earned Rs 8.30 crore on opening day.

Additionally, Chhaava could break another major record by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film ever released on Valentine’s Day. Currently, Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy holds the record, having earned Rs 19.40 crore on February 14, 2019. However, Chhaava is expected to surpass this number.
