Producer Boney Kapoor, who recently said that his brother, actor Anil Kapoor, is upset with him for not casting him in the sequel of No Entry, has now said that he is shocked at the way his comment has been perceived. Boney said that this comment was meant to be a joke as Anil is already busy with his upcoming film for the next two years. Boney had said that Anil is “not talking” to him as the cast of No Entry 2 was leaked online and it did not include him.
During an interview with News 18, Boney said that this was a “light hearted” comment and shared, “I am shocked and surprised that the press has made an issue of a very light-hearted and not a very successful attempt on humour when I said ‘Anil is angry with me’. The fact is the film I am proposing to make doesn’t have either Salman (Khan) or Anil because both of them are very busy stars. So, instead of thinking of making it with them I decided to make the sequel with a younger generation.”
Boney added, “To think that either of them can be upset with me because they are not a part of the sequel of No Entry is an idea totally absurd and ridiculous. No Entry sequel may have needed them but they don’t need the sequel. This comment has clearly been said only in humour.”
No Entry 2 will star Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in the leading roles. Boney, whose next film Maidaan is ready for release, also said that if there is anything that Anil might be upset about, he will clarify it with his brother.
“I know that for the next two years Anil has no dates available at all. Nevertheless, since my remark has been given a serious interpretation, I must clarify that not for a moment I meant it in earnestness; and if any distorted version of this innocuous remark has reached Anil which may have upset him, I’ll speak to my brother and clarify it,” Boney said.
In an earlier chat with News18 Showsha, Boney had said, “Yesterday, there were some people interviewing me and they asked me how has Anil reacted, so I said that he is upset with me, that he is not talking to me. Now, I had to be honest, I just can’t… but at the same time, I know that blood is thicker than water, and we’ve been very very close. I love him too dearly, I just can’t do anything to hurt him. This is something professional, so I have to follow the diktat of the director, who calls the shots.”
In another interview, Boney also mentioned that he is also planning the sequel of Mr India, which released back in 1987, and also starred Anil Kapoor. No Entry’s sequel is being directed by Anees Bazmee and as per Kapoor, the film will star ten female actors.
